Pedaling for Parkinson’s – July 13 to 15, 2012

We’re expanding on our very successful  2011 event which raised over $17,000 and welcome you to join us in 2012!

With personal and family connections to  Parkinson’s, David Newall and Peter Istvan created  this cycling event to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and raise funds  for Parkinson’s research.

Over the course of three days (July 13-15, 2012), we will be pedaling to raise awareness and research funds for Canadians diagnosed with Parkinson’s. There will be a number of distance options for each day of the ride from 30 to 160 km and you can ride one day, two days or all three days.

For more detailed information please see the event website:

www.pedalingforparkinsons.ca

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and raise funds for Parkinson’s research.  Parkinson Society Canada’s National Research Program funds research into the cure, cause, prevention, improved treatment and/or understanding of Parkinson’s disease and related disorders.

Hopefully, you can participate by either making a donation, participating, or doing both!

More info on Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disease. Movement is normally controlled by  dopamine, a chemical that carries signals between the nerves in the brain. When  cells that normally produce dopamine die, the symptoms of Parkinson’s appear. Currently,  there is no cure.
